    February 20, 1942 – July 28, 2024 - Duane was born on February 20, 1942, to parents Sebastian and Elizabeth Martian in Harvey, N.D.

    He attended St. Cecilia elementary school and Harvey High School. He joined the U.S. Army right after high school and served for three years. He moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he married his childhood sweetheart, Alice Prokop on Feb.1,1964. After their first-born son Michael Todd was born, they moved to Portland, Or. in September 1965. Then having 2 more children, Melody May and Marcus Trent, his favorite 3 M's. He worked at Freightliner Corporation for 25 years having to go on disability retirement due to an accident that resulted in the loss of his right leg.

    His family was always foremost in his life attending their sports and various activities and planning family gatherings, holidays, birthdays and family vacations. Then came the grandchildren who he adored and loved spending time with them and spoiling them.

    Duane was a devout Catholic all his life being very active on church committees and activities. He also was an active member of St. Vincent dePaul, Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus. Duane enjoyed vacation times with Alice going to the Oregon Coast, North Dakota to visit family and friends, to Arizona to visit Michael and family, and to Las Vegas and California. He loved going fishing especially at Trillium Lake and Salmon fishing off the Oregon Coast with family and friends. He was a longtime fan of the Portland Trailblazers and the Oregon Ducks football games. He and Alice went on a cruise to the San Juan Islands to celebrate their 25th Anniversary and took another cruise to Alaska a couple years later.

    The angels and saints took him to the Heavenly Kingdom where he was warmly greeted by God our Father and Jesus Christ our Savior on Sunday July 28th after spending over 7 weeks in the hospital with numerous medical conditions never to return home.

    He was proceeded in death by his parents and his six older siblings. He is survived by his wife Alice of 60+ years and children; Michael, Melody (Roger) Humala, Marcus (Denise) and grandchildren; Nathan, Cassidy, Griffin, Dominic and step grandchildren Luis and Mikaela Humala, and several nieces and nephews. Our hearts are shattered, and we all miss him dearly.

    A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church at 346 NW First Street, Gresham, Oregon 97030 preceded by a rosary starting at 10:30 on Friday, August 30th followed by a reception in the Madonna Center. A private family internment will be at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements made by Gresham Memorial Chapel.

    Rest in Peace dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
