Several East Multnomah County roads will be closed and repaved as part of the next phase of the Bull Run filtration plant.

Starting Monday, Aug. 26, and continuing through early September, a bevy of roads in “poor condition” will close in connection to the Portland Water Bureau’s “Fix-It First” road improvement project. During the closures local and emergency access will be maintained.

    The closures are:

    Lusted Road

    Closed: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, Aug. 26-27

Location: Cottrell Road to just east of the Altman Road intersection

    Altman Road

    Closed: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, and Friday, Aug. 30; all day/night Tuesday-Thursday, Aug. 27-29

Location: Southeast Dodge Park Boulevard to the county line

    Closed: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28; full closure Thursday, Aug. 29, to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4

Location: Lusted Road to Dodge Park Boulevard

This section of Altman Road will be unpaved (sand) with a 15 mile per hour speed limit Saturday, Aug. 31, to Wednesday, Sept. 4.

    Hosner Road

    Closed: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Aug. 28-29

Location: Oxbow Drive to Lusted Road

The road work is being done by the Portland Water Bureau as it builds a new filtration facility for the Bull Run Reservoir. That plant will remove the microorganism cryptosporidium from the city of Portland’s drinking water.

The plan is for the filtration plant to come online in 2027.
