Centennial kid athletes are hoping someone in the community can be their “bright light.”

Centennial Youth Football’s 5/6-year-old team practices at Centennial Middle School. The problem is there are no lights at the facility, and with the days getting shorter and shorter, they are losing that valuable training time.

The program is hoping to connect with a local family or business that has access to portable construction lighting that could be donated to the program for use during the season. If you have any ideas, email Centennial Youth Football president Kris Dowell at kris@centennialeagles.com

The Centennial Youth Football Association is a nonprofit organization all about fostering a love of football amongst youths. In 2024 the program welcomed new leadership, and joined the Portland Athletic and Activities League for even more opportunities — including free registration, an expanded schedule of games, and special events.

“We aspire to be a cornerstone of the East Portland and Gresham areas, bringing people together through the spirit of sport,” Centennial Youth Football said.

Games are often played at the new Centennial High School football field. Learn more about the program online at centennialeagles.com/home
