Anderson represents LHS in North-South All-Star basketball game
Recent Lovell High School graduate Parker Anderson was selected to compete for the North team in the annual Wyoming Coaches Association North vs. South All-Star boys basketball game held at Casper College on Saturday as the North defeated the South 80-69. After a week full of practicing and team bonding activities to get to know one another, the graduated seniors from around the state took the court on Saturday for one final game of their high school careers.

(Riverton, WY) – Ryan Mosser is a high school graduate from Thermopolis, who enrolled in Wind River Job Corps to get his electrical certifications. Since his arrival in February, he has received his State Electrical Apprenticeship Card and certifications in OSHA-10 Construction, Residential Roof Top Solar Technician, Ladder Safety, and Ramset Power Actuated Tools.

Western Receives National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education Grant
Western Wyoming Community College (Western) has received a $337,344 Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grant from the National Science Foundation, the U.S. government’s independent science agency. The three-year grant will fund the College’s HyFlex initiative. The project aims to transform information technology (IT) support and cybersecurity credential attainment through a HyFlex (hyper-flexible) educational offerings and curriculum aligned with industry standards and certifications.

One22 Resource Center has brought back its school supplies drive, running now through Aug. 15, to meet this need. One22 is anticipating at least 200 requests for assistance with school supplies, so they’ve compiled a list of needed items drawn from the Teton County School District’s classroom supply lists.

Stallions fall in final conference games; state tournament up next
The Rock Springs American Legion baseball team completed their AA Conference season yesterday by dropping a road doubleheader at Jackson by scores of 5-1 and 5-2. The Stallions and Giants were playing for the conference #7 seed in next week’s AA State Tournament, which will be played in Casper. The two losses put Rock Springs into the #8 in the tournament.
Meet this year’s Red Desert Rodeo Royalty
The Red Desert Roundup Rodeo will take over the Sweetwater Events Complex Grandstand Arena this Friday and Saturday night, July 26 and 27. Helping to oversee the festivities will be this year’s rodeo royalty. They are Junior Princess Ashten Folks, and Junior Princess 1st Attendant is Kennedy Kleinlein. Both won their honors at this year’s Red Desert Roundup Rodeo Queen pageant which was held October 15, 2024, in Rock Springs.

Asay, Wambeke win Pioneer Day Fun Run races
A pair of local high school track and field competitors captured the two individual titles at the Pioneer Day Fun Run in Cowley Saturday morning. Lovell High School incoming senior Stetson Asay easily won the 5K race in a time of 21:35, while Rocky Mountain High School sophomore-to-be Dalan Wambeke defended his title in the mile, winning the race in a time of 6:37, 30 seconds faster than his time a year ago.
