105th annual Crow Fair brings thousands to 'teepee capital of the world'
More than 25,000 people turned out for the 105th annual Crow Fair Aug. 16-18 in Crow Agency. The gathering attracts tribes from across the U.S. and Canada, and its nickname of “teepee capital of the world” refers to the fact that there are hundreds of teepees set up along the Little Bighorn River near Crow Agency. From little tykes of 3 or 4 years old to tribal elders, hundreds of tribal members dance at the powwow, which is the largest in Montana and one of the largest in the country. Drum groups from across the country provide drumming for the powwow.

Outgoing Montana State President Waded Cruzado leaves lasting legacy in Bobcat athletics
BOZEMAN — Waded Cruzado had been in Washington, D.C., but she took a flight that got her to Seattle in time for the game. Montana State University’s President since January 2010, Cruzado took her seat in the University of Washington’s arena ready to see the Bobcat women’s basketball team play the Huskies in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. She saw the graphics and statistics on the scoreboard over the middle of the court and remarked to fellow MSU administrators that she wanted a similar one inside the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
Billings and Kalispell Teams, Hospitals Unite to Stop the Stigma
Two teams, two towns, and two hospitals are coming together to "stop the stigma" and to support suicide prevention efforts here in Montana. Billings and Kalispell, Montana both serve as hosts to a couple of great baseball stadiums. I've visited both ballparks in the past week and a half. Dehler Park in Billings has the rims in the backdrop, and the Glacier Range Riders stadium in Kalispell- wow. The range, the mountains, and the pine trees in the background are hard to beat. You would enjoy just sitting in the Range Riders' Glacier Bank Park stadium- even if a baseball game wasn't taking place.

GILLETTE, Wyo. — As the 2024 primary election gets underway today, Campbell County officials are asking those visiting the courthouse today for their patience. According to a Facebook post, the county had sufficient numbers of election judges signed up prior to the election, but unforeseen circumstances have forced several to be absent on Election Day. To help the election flow as smoothly as possible, the county has shuffled staff from the Campbell County Clerks office to step in and help at the polls.
Wyoming Angler Sets New State Record For Tiger Trout
A soft-spoken 13-year-old Kemmerer boy set the new tiger trout state record in late July when he landed a 12.77 pound fish from Viva Naughton Reservoir. The Wyoming Game and Fish wrote that Jaxon Krall shattered the previous record of 11.93 pounds, which was also caught at Viva Naughton by Owen Schaad of Cheyenne in 2023.

MONTANA - Today's weather is embodying Summer in full force: with sunshine, temperatures in the 70's and 80's and calm winds. Viewpoint: NorthWestern Energy’s missteps in a changing climate
As Sarah Lundquist from Families for a Livable Climate remarked in her recent Op Ed, the late July storm that blasted through Missoula was a reminder that climate change can look different from polar bears adrift on shrinking icebergs thousands of miles away. In Montana, it can look like a...
