Local Tasting Room Closing After 7 Years

Investing your hard-earned money into a new beverage is something you probably don’t take lightly. Whether it is a bottle of spirits, wine, a new brew, or even a fun soda, many of these beverages now cost a pretty penny. With just about everything costing significantly more these days, extra money for beverages you, in the end, don’t like, simply isn’t worth it, which means buying a new bottle on a whim might be out of the question, because why spend hard-earned money if it’s not going to be enjoyed? One local tasting room that has been around Tucson for seven years made sampling local wine easy, but unfortunately, it announced its upcoming closure.

The high cost of operations is affecting businesses just like consumers. The Sand-Reckoner Vineyards tasting room is the latest establishment to feel the blowback. While its mission was to help connect patrons with a new bottle of something they recently sampled, customers just don’t have the disposable income any longer, not to mention the rising cost of operating the tasting room. With everything coming to a head, the tasting room has officially said it is shutting down.

The tasting room posted on its Instagram page that, after seven years, the establishment made the difficult decision to shut down at the end of the month and, for the remainder of August, it would maintain limited hours. For anyone interested in stopping by for a final sip, or to talk wine with the staff, it will be open on Saturdays from 2 until 6 PM.

This doesn’t mean you won’t be able to enjoy additional Sand-Reckoner wines in the future. While the tasting room will close at the end of the month the business will move to an online-only establishment. So, you will be able to order your wine and have it delivered to you. If you are a member of the wine club you will still receive all of your scheduled wine deliveries through November. By that point, you will receive updated correspondence for what will happen thereafter.

If you are looking for a good deal, or to maybe purchase some of the decor that had been used at the Sand-Reckoner tasting room, there will be a “garage sale” held in the coming weeks. An exact date was not given for this, so the best way to know when such a sale will take place is to follow the tasting room on Instagram.
