Texas Restaurant, the Top Golf of Baseball, Coming to Scottsdale

Gaming activity restaurants have become a major trend in the food and beverage space. Businesses like Top Golf have continued to thrive, despite the industry's hardships. By offering individuals the ability to come out, and partake in physical activity, while also grabbing some food and drinks, makes it an attractive option for anyone looking for a fun date night out with friends or a significant other. If you’re the kind of person who misses going to the batting cages or taking a few swings with your friends as a kid, a brand new restaurant coming to metro Phoenix will be right in your wheelhouse. 

Home Run Dugout started in Texas, but has quickly caught on, spreading across various metro areas. It recently made the announcement that it would come out west to Scottsdale, which makes sense. Thanks to half of Major League Baseball’s spring training taking place in the area, having a designated restaurant that also offers virtual batting bays only makes sense. 

The restaurant and activity center will function in a similar way to Top Golf. There are individual “bays” that can be rented out. The bays have their own seating, ordering menus, and allow you to hang out with your friends. When a “batter” is up they will approach the plate, with a curved screen in front of them. From in front of the plate, a wiffle-type ball will be ejected from the floor. A batter can then swing and hit the ball. The trajectory of the ball will appear on the video screen, allowing you to hit home runs in any major league baseball stadium. 

Naturally, with the presence of adult beverages on hand it isn’t practical to have fast-speed pitching machines on hand. That’s too much of a liability. This, however, is safe for the entire family, and it’s something you don’t have to be a complete baseball fan to enjoy. 

There will also be plenty of outdoor space as well. You can order food and grab a drink while sitting outside by an actual baseball diamond. Actual pickup games can be played here as well. 

Home Run Dugout offers a fun option for the entire family, and it’s a great activity for when the temperatures are too hot but you still want to be active and get out of the house. 

The Scottsdale location is expected to open in 2025 as construction will take some time for such a large footprint. It will be located off the Loop 101, by the Talking Stick Resort.
