If you are a lover of chicken and waffles and live anywhere around greater Phoenix, chances are you’ve stopped off at Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles. The restaurant brand now has three locations around the Valley, including Phoenix, Gilbert, and Scottsdale. The Gilbert location alone has over 2,000 Google Reviews, a number most restaurants never come close to reaching. The popularity is undeniable, though if you’re not close to any of the three current locations it can be difficult to drive across town when you’re craving some of the juicy chicken or waffles made from a mix perfected by Larry Lo-Lo White, the owner and founder. Thankfully though, there’s good news, because a new location is currently in the works.

Or, at least, the owners of Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles will be moving into a new location. After taking over the empty building sitting at 1040 North 54th Street in Chandler, no official announcement has come from Lo-Lo’s, so it very much is possible the brand might try something slightly different. Or, it might simply be a new chicken and waffles addition to the growing presence around greater Phoenix.

If you have lived in the area for a while now you might recall the original Lo-Lo’s opening back in 2002 in a very small, roughly thousand-square-foot space. At that time it was pretty much a one-man operation, though that is no longer the case with the three Phoenix-area restaurants, plus a fourth in Las Vegas and a fifth in Texas.

The lease for the new restaurant is still drying, so there’s still plenty of work to be done to the building. There’s a very specific vibe inside of Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles, so it will take time to fully renovate the space and get it up to par with the other locations. Even if the family decides to implement a tweak on the classic location, it will probably still take a few months to have the restaurant up and running. This means, whatever restaurant it is, the official launch won’t come until the very end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.

Regardless, if you’re a lover of fried chicken and waffles, this is fantastic news. “Hood Classics” on the menu include KK’s (three-piece southern style chicken with two waffles, grits, and two eggs with cheese and onions), Baby Ray (three-piece chicken smothered with gravy and onions), Lo-Lo’s (three-piece southern chicken with two golden waffles), and the Nay-Nay’s (two waffles, two eggs, and a bowl of grits)
