It’s hard to keep a good restaurant owner down. Even when they are down on their luck, eventually they will turn it around and return, bigger and better than ever. That is exactly what has happened to a local Phoenix restaurant, which was forced to close just about this time last year. For fans of locally owned and operated eateries, this is good news and just goes to show a little perseverance can go a long way.

Last October The Larder & The Delta announced on its social media platforms that it would be closing. The closure was due to the landlord hiking the rent and not being willing to work with the restaurant owners on a compromise. Followers of the restaurant responded to the post, as over 800 people liked the postThe restaurant was best known for using fresh ingredients all locally sourced from farmers in the area. In the announcement, the owners did indicate they were looking for another location. While it has taken a while to materialize, the new location is finally open and fans of The Larder & The Delter can finally return and enjoy all of their favorites.

The new location can be enjoyed at 2320 East Osborn Road in Phoenix and is open from Wednesday through Saturday is at 6 PM. Unlike most restaurants around the Valley, The Larder & The Delta is a tasting-menu destination, where guests will be given a 12-course experience, with each course coming out one at a time. Currently, the only scheduled seating takes place at the 6 PM time slot, though a second seating will be added in the coming months as word spreads of the restaurant’s return.

While the menu does rotate throughout the year, with new additions and subtractions based on what is in season, the current menu features highlights such as cowpea fritter (okra, watermelon molasses, Morita pepper, and hibiscus), coco bread (charred country ham butter), Limpin Susan (okra, black garlic, Charleston gold rice), veal sweetbreads (red pepper creamed corn, sorghum berries), and pork trotter (black truffle, lobster mushroom, ash cooked candied yams).

The official opening date was September 19. Reservations are currently open, so if you want to check out the new space and the tasting menu, make sure to head over to The Larder & The Delta’s website and fill out the reservation form. Additionally, if you’d like to check out visuals of what is on the menu, head over to the restaurant’s Instagram page.
