There’s something about seeing classic restaurant signage that just hits differently. Maybe it’s driving past one of the old light-up Arbu’s hat signs. Or one of the aged Taco Bell signs with actual bells and neon piping. There’s even something nostalgic about the oversized Big Boy statue that is so rarely seen these days. Maybe it reminds us of our childhood, easier times, or when we had better ideas of what was actually in the food we ate. Whatever the reason, the classic signs often bring warm feelings and memories. Now, one classic Midwestern restaurant is looking to bring its classic signage to Phoenix in the coming months.

Beef-A-Roo has been serving homemade, fast-casual food since 1967. With visuals of a boy wearing cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and holding a burger platter, it has been a staple in certain Midwestern cities for nearly 60 years. And now, it is finally making the push into Arizona and, more specifically, Phoenix.

According to its press release, the restaurant brand is expanding to several new regions in the coming months. Phoenix was the highlight and first mentioned, though other cities in Tennessee and Michigan were also included.

There’s a reason it hasn’t opened in the area previously. It does have a rather large initial investment price. In addition to the $49,999 franchise fee, a total investment of upwards of $1.45 million must be made. Of course, with that kind of money put into the restaurant, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon once it has launched.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting a Beef-A-Roo before, it is essentially an Arby’s on steroids. Classic sandwiches include the Classic Roast Beef, Beef ‘N’ Cheese, Big Roast Beef, Wild West Beef, Mushroom Swiss Beef, Turkey Bacon Club, and Avocado Turkey Jack. Grilled options include the Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Mushroom Swiss Burger, Olive Burger, and Wild West Burger.

At the restaurant, you will also find a number of chicken sandwiches, plus sides like cheddar fries, cheese curds, french fries, loaded fries (topped with cheddar, ranch, bacon bits, and green onions), onion rings, and sweet potato waffle fries.

There is not yet a timetable for the official opening of the new Beef-A-Roo in Phoenix, nor is there a set address for the new restaurant. The franchise information was just released, though there are specific timelines for the opening of restaurants, so expect to see more information about Beef-A-Roo in the coming months.
