Griffin on Alert: Second Fox Confirmed Rabid as Officials Urge Pet Vaccinations and Caution
A second fox in Griffin, Georgia, has been confirmed to have rabies after it approached a man and woman on Placid Road. According to FOX5 Atlanta, the incident occurred on August 16, 2024, near the cross section of Grandview Drive and East College Street, and the fox was subsequently captured by animal control. The Georgia Department of Public Health Laboratory reported on Friday, August 23, that the fox tested positive for the virus. This case follows closely behind another incident in the same area, where a fox attacked two dogs.

JONESBORO, Ga. — Another Georgia Red Lobster is closing its doors, bankruptcy filings suggest, and it is right up the road from Central Georgia. Off of exit 233 on I-75, the Jonesboro Red Lobster is set to permanently close on Aug. 31, according to a CNN report. Pointing to recent filings in the company's ongoing bankruptcy case, they are "rejecting their lease" and closing the restaurant on Sunday.

Nick’s New Beginnings will host the Second Annual All-Recovery Festival on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Church in Jackson. “There’s never been any kind of support for recovery in Butts County, so we are working to build a community recovery family,” said Garret Vandever, co-founder of Nick’s New Beginnings, of the reason behind holding the festival. “The recovery festival is part of our effort to bring people and families in the community together and make them aware of recovery and let them see what that’s like.”
