    Miss Grifton Pageant set for April 13

    Five contestants are set to compete in The Miss Grifton Pageant at 7 p.m. on April 13 at the Grifton School auditorium.

    The event selects the next Miss Grifton, who will reign during Shad Festival events later in the week and represent the town at other festivals and events in the coming year. The event awards scholarships and builds character for contestants.

    The pageant also raises funds to stage future pageants. Admission is $5 and audience members will be able to participate in the People’s Choice Award again this year. For the award, people place money in their favorite contestant’s box; the winner will be given a cash prize and award. The five contestants are:

    Contestant 1 is Alexis Pack. She is the daughter of Joseph Ferrell and Lindsay Pack. Pack is a 16-year-old sophomore at Ayden-Grifton High School and she’s sponsored by Hwy 55 of Grifton.Contestant 2 is Izzy Oakes. She is the daughter of Justin Oakes. Oakes is 14 years old, an eighth-grader at Mount Calvary Christian Academy and she’s sponsored by Carraway Land Construction.Contestant 3 is Mackenzie Suggs. She is the daughter of Fred and Rebecca Suggs. Suggs is a 15-year-old freshman at Ayden-Grifton High School. She’s sponsored by Grifton Town Commissioner Jessie Daigneault.Contestant 4 is Kylie Casper. She is the daughter of Keith Casper and Tiffany Lynch. Casper is a 15-year-old sophomore at Ayden-Grifton High School and she’s sponsored by Cleaning by Julie Monroe.Contestant 5 is Abigail Morgan. She is the daughter of Steven and Melissa Morgan. Morgan is a 15-year-old sophomore at NERSBA Early College. She’s sponsored by Food Pride of Grifton.
