“The Adventure Begins at Your Library” is the theme of the 2024 summer reading program at Grifton Public Library.

Young people 5-13 who sign up to participate will explore books about adventure and fun outdoor activities, and readers of all ages will be encouraged to improve their minds through reading 20 minutes a day.

Guest speakers and activities are planned to make the summer fun for everyone, the library said. Registration is ongoing at the library, 568 Queen St.

The program will run noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays for ages 5-8 and noon to 1 p.m. on Thursdays for ages 9-13. The program starts June 18 for the younger readers and June 20 for the older group.

The program ends on Aug. 10 with an awards ceremony. Each age group will get to compete for prizes along with other incentives during the program. A free book will be awarded at the end of the program during the Aug. 10 awards ceremony for completing the reading challenge.

    All participants will receive certificates.

The library’s main goals are to enable our children to maintain their reading skills during the summer vacation, to encourage regular use of the library and to develop positive attitudes about reading and books.

For more information or to register, call 252-524-0345 or visit the Grifton Public Library.
