Fall sports off and running
The fall sports season started on the right, or left, foot as the Washington and Northside cross country teams competed in the first official event of the new season. Northside senior Andrew Harding picked up where he left off last fall by cruising to victory in the boys 5K with a time of 19:25. Harding finished second in the state 1A cross country meet last fall.
Pitt County visitor spending surpasses $312 million in 2023
Visitor spending in Pitt County has exceeded $300 million for the first time, according to an annual study commissioned by Visit North Carolina, a division of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. NCDOT Crews Work to Repair Sinkhole on Dunn Family Road in Kinston
Crews from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) are working to repair a large sinkhole that developed on Dunn Family Road near Girl Scout Road, just outside the city limits of Kinston. The sinkhole, which was reported on Sunday, was caused by heavy rainfall that led to a break or separation in a pipe running beneath the road.
