Holden DeVore and Colin Nore finished fifth at the Bass Master Federation Junior World Championship

(Atlantic) Holden DeVore of Atlantic and his fishing partner Colin Nore from Grimes, Iowa, placed fifth overall at the Junior World Championship through the Bass Master Federation at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, South Carolina.

The duo fished for five days, including two pre-fishing and three tournament days. They caught around 100 fish in total. This was the first time 13-year-old Holden DeVore fished with Nore, and it did not take long to figure out they made a good team.

Bob Harris, Coach of the Southwest Iowa Fishing Team and Statewide Director, says the competition now knows some Iowa student anglers know how to fish. Holden DeVore is coming off a good season with a state championship with his partner Colton Anderson and Boat Captain Jeff Anderson. Harris says DeVore has built an excellent resume even though he is only entering the 8th grade.

Grayson Molgaard and Owen Miller also competed at the Junior World Championships at Lake Hartwell but did not make the finals.

Harris says there are 1,100 miles of shoreline, and the spot DeVore and Nore picked out was no bigger than a farm pond, where they fished all five days. Being successful on the national stage opens up the opportunity for these students to fish in college.
