    August 15 is the application deadline for dozens permits available in several popular categories in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Drawn Hunt program.
    The categories for include Archery Deer, Archery Mule Deer, Javelina, Pronghorn and Private Lands Pronghorn.
    Applications for these and other hunt categories must be completed online, no mail-ins. There is a $3 application fee for most hunts. Selected hunters may be assessed a “hunt fee” ranging $80-$130, depending on the hunt. Youths under 17 always hunt for free.
    Around 9,400 hunting permits are available in 62 different categories this year. About 4,800 permits are for hunts on state-run wildlife management areas, state parks, public hunt lands and private lands.
    Additionally, there are 3,000 permits for hunts on select national wildlife refuges, 1,225 antlerless permits for use on U.S. Forest Service properties and about 1,300 permits are available in 14 Youth Only categories.
    Application deadlines fall on the 1st and 15th of each month, through Nov. 1. Drawings in each category are typically held on the first business dayTo learn more, check out the Drawn Hunts link on the department’s website.

    Hall nets 5th in Tackle Warehouse Invitational

    Texas bass pro Kyle Hall of Granbury was the top finishing Texan in the Tackle Warehouse Invitational held July 26-28 on the Detroit River in Trenton, MI..
    Hall finished fourth with a three-day total of 64-13. He won $18,000.
