The Family Abuse Center held a Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention community event on Tuesday at the Methodist Activity Center. Despite a modest turnout, the event featured an engaging panel discussion with advocates and counselors who provided crucial information on resources available for individuals in abusive situations.
During the session, attendees were encouraged to ask questions and share experiences, making for an interactive and informative discussion. The panel emphasized the importance of reaching out for help and highlighted various support services accessible to those in need.
They also explained that they accept donations of old cell phones with no service as long as they are still chargeable. Keep an eye out for an update about where those can be donated in the future.
Community members seeking more information about these resources can visit or contact the Journal office. Additionally, organizations interested in hosting the Family Abuse Center for similar discussions at churches, workplaces, or schools are encouraged to reach out to Jena Messer at jena.messer@familyabusecenter.org .
The Family Abuse Center continues to be a vital resource in the fight against domestic violence, offering support and education to the community.
