The End of Summer Paws on Aug. 7 marked the first annual 'Paws in the Pool' event at Groesbeck Pool. Animal Control Officer Randal Dobson took to Facebook to express gratitude to the attendees and the pool staff for making this event a success.
In a Facebook post, Officer Dobson shared, “Prior to Public Works draining the city pool, Animal Control had a swim day for the local dogs. We saw another city do that and we tried it this year; it was mildly successful. The pet owners really appreciated it, they came out with their dogs and swam with them. It was a fun time, and then the pool was drained the next day.”
The unique event saw local pet owners bring their dogs to the pool for a day of swimming before it was drained for the season. Despite being a new initiative, the 'Paws in the Pool' event received positive feedback from the community and was enjoyed by all who participated. This marks a heartwarming conclusion to the summer season for both dogs and their humans.
The success of this event sets a promising precedent for future community initiatives and showcases the positive impact of bringing together pet owners and their furry companions for a day of fun and relaxation. With the support and enthusiasm of the community, it is hoped that 'Paws in the Pool' will become a cherished tradition in the years to come.
