Tragic Accident on IH-45 Northbound Claims Young Driver's Life

A fatal crash occurred on IH-45 northbound near mile marker 212, south of Streetman on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the scene about 7:30 a.m. It was reported the driver of a Chevrolet 3500, identified as Clemente Mandujano, 22, of Houston, died as a result of the wreck.
According to DPS Sgt. Ryan W. Howard, initial investigations suggest the driver may have been fatigued at the time of the incident, leading to the vehicle veering off the roadway and overturning. Despite the best efforts of first-responders, Mandujano was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified.
The investigation into the crash is currently active and ongoing. Howard emphasized the importance of recognizing the dangers of driving while fatigued. He highlighted that fatigue can significantly impair a driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle, leading to slower reaction times, reduced attentiveness and weakened information-processing skills.
