The Home Run Derby is one of the most exciting events in all of sports, its comparable to the 3-point shootout, the dunk contest, hockey shootout, penalty kicks, and other all-star/ skill competitions that take place in sports. Both die-hard and casual baseball fans turn their heads and give their undivided attention to the MLB Home Run Derby and celebrate all of the moonshot mania that occurs. I would say this year's Derby was no different but that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Mariah White-Ogunmola is just like any other nine-year-old on a sunny July afternoon — she can be found outside, riding her bike around her neighborhood with her siblings. White-Ogunmola, though, is not your typical nine-year-old. At the beginning of July, White-Ogunmola traveled to Columbus, Ohio where she competed in her first ever pageant and was crowed the 2024 National American Miss Michigan Junior Preteen Queen.

The City of Madison Heights 35th Annual Golf Scramble
The Recreation Department and Madison Heights Community Coalition will be hosting the City-Wide Golf Outing on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Sylvan Glen Golf Course in Troy (5725 Rochester Rd, Troy, MI 48085). This event is $140, and the proceeds will be split between Recreation and the Madison Heights Community Coalition. The outing will include a four-person scramble with an 8:00 am shotgun start, light breakfast, snacks, and a delicious banquet lunch after 18 holes of golf. This outing is open to anyone!
