Elite safety prospect Jonah Williams set for a return trip to LSU
LSU has a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail right now, and it’s looking to bring yet another five-star prospect into the fold. Top-10 national prospect and America’s No. 1 safety Jonah Williams will be heading back to Baton Rouge on Friday for an unofficial visit, according to LSU Country’s Zack Nagy. It will be Williams’ second trip to LSU in as many months after he took his official visit in June. One of LSU’s top remaining targets and a two-sport athlete that the Tigers are also recruiting to play baseball, Williams would be a massive addition to a class that already ranks in the top five. LSU seemingly has some ground to make up here. Williams has recently received multiple crystal ball projections in favor of Texas A&M, and Oregon is considered the favorite according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine. But getting him back on campus is a good sign, and the Tigers will hope to make a strong impression this weekend. LSU pitcher Chase Shores progressing nicely after missing 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery
LSU has the makings of a very talented pitching rotation next season with a stud transfer class and several prized high school recruits making it to campus. There is also a potential X-factor in the group of returning pitchers as Chase Shores is expected to be back after missing the entire 2024 season following Tommy John surgery. Shores impressed early as a true freshman in 2023, appearing in seven games with four starts. He ended the year with a 0.96 ERA in 18.1 innings before his campaign ended with a torn UCL on March 31. Though he missed the entire campaign, coach Jay Johnson recently said the Shores would have been available if LSU had reached the super regionals in the NCAA Tournament. The hard-throwing 6-foot-8, 245-pound right-hander had a breakout season cut short in 2023, but the former top prospect in Texas should be finally back to full health by the time LSU’s 2025 season begins. Here’s how LSU commit Devin Harper’s adjustment to Calvary Baptist is working out
People notice when Devin Harper makes a move — any move. When you’re 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds, and you’re a national Top 5 recruit, that happens. That’s why when Harper decided to transfer from LHSAA Class 5A Captain Shreve to Class 2A Calvary Baptist a few months ago, it was a big deal. While the Gators still have plenty of talent, they might have had the best offensive line in the state with Harper paired with the also highly recruited Lionel Prudhomme Jr.
