City leaders, his staff and patients across the area are mourning the Friday afternoon death of "Tuscaloosa's Doctor," Ramesh Peramsetty. Peramsetty was the well-known founder and medical director of a group of local medical officers operating as the Crimson Network, including Alabama Family Medical Care, both Crimson Care locations, Crimson Village and the Tuscaloosa Weight Loss Center.
Keith Bears take down Calhoun Tigers in opening game
The Keith Bears traveled to Letohachee on Friday night to face the Calhoun Tigers for their season opener. The Bears were able to take a 10-8 lead at the half and hold the Tigers to take the win. Industrial park coming to Baldwin County in wake of Port of Mobile growth
Gulf Corporation, a Dallas-based real estate firm, broke ground on a new industrial park in Loxley Wednesday, in tandem with the Port of Mobile’s continued growth. “The close proximity to 1-10 and the centralized location in Baldwin County between Mobile and Pensacola will attract quality tenants that will provide good, high-paying jobs for the citizens of not only Baldwin County but of the entire Southwest region of Alabama,” Baldwin County Commission Chair Billie Jo Underwood said in a news release. “These types of good, stable jobs will help increase the quality of life of the citizens of Baldwin County and help us continue to ensure a stable local and regional economy.”

On Saturday at 1:59 p.m. an updated rip current statement was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 7 p.m. for Mobile and Baldwin counties. "Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water," says the weather service. "Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help."

Wawa Hosting Two Grand Openings On August 29
Wawa will host a double header of grand openings on August 29 at its locations in Mobile and Robertsdale. Both ceremonies will feature giveaways, including free T-shirts for the first 100 customers, free any-size coffee through September 8, plus a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local officials, customers, the announcement of grants from The Wawa Foundation and a “Hoagies for Heroes” hoagie-building competition between first responders to benefit local charities. On August 29, doors will open at 8 a.m. at both locations.
