You may have seen the sign for Sabor Mexicano on your way in or out of Armstrong Redwoods and wondered what it is.

It’s the 130-acre Sonoma County farmstead and escape for restaurateur and chef Jorge Saldana, who has restaurants in Berkeley and San Francisco, plus a line of homemade tortilla chips and salsas.

From 4-7 p.m. Aug. 24, Saldana will swing open the farm gates for an all-you-can-eat carnitas picnic.

The meal includes carnitas straight out of the cazo served with homemade tortillas, salsas and accompaniments for $41, including taxes and fees. Beverages, including aguas frescas, will be available for purchase at the event.

Purchase tickets at bit.ly/46qY0I4. 16790 Armstrong Woods Road, Guerneville.
