Things to do: Lace up your shoes for annual Firecracker Races on the Great Guernsey Trail
Dust off your running shoes and enjoy a scenic race along the Great Guernsey Trail July 4. Starting at the Corduroy Road entrance to the trail, the third annual Firecracker Races will include a 10K and 5K race and a 5K Fun Run and Walk. Registration starts at $30 through July 3, and the price will increase to $35 on race day for the 5K events. The 10K is $35 through July 3, then increases to $40 on race day. Music promoter from Woodsfield bringing three-day country music fest to the area in July
CAMBRIDGE − Woodsfield native Dustin Knowlton will be bringing big-name country artists to Guernsey County this summer for the inaugural Old Washington Music Festival. Knowlton grew up in Monroe County and graduated from Monroe Central High School. He has always had an interest in country music. "Like so many others, I grew up going to the iconic Jamboree in the Hills." Jamboree in the Hills, otherwise known as Jambo, was the annual music festival held in Morristown in Belmont County for many years.

Progress continues on new building at Guernsey County Fairgrounds
CAMBRDIGE − The Guernsey County Fairgrounds is making progress on the construction of the new multi-purpose barn. The new building will be located where the old rabbit and pony barn sat, beside the Junior Fair office building. The concrete was poured around the sides on June 20. CAMBRIDGE − Earlier this month, the Guernsey County commissioners met in executive session to discuss next steps in the Cincinnati-based Kroger opioid settlement. In September, the grocery chain agreed to pay out $1.2 billion to states and subdivisions across the country.
