Musician Thomas Konow, 61, Killed In Fiery Catskill Crash
The Greene County incident happened at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, on State Route 9W in Catskill. New York State Police said Thomas Konow, age 61, of Claverack in Columbia County, was driving a GMC SUV southbound on SR 9W when the vehicle left the roadway, struck the wall of a railroad overpass, and caught fire.
Youth is served with local soccer franchise owner ahead of her time
Hudson Valley Crusaders owner finding great success at young age. When Hannah Esslie founded the Hudson Valley Crusaders of the United Women’s Soccer League, she was thought to be the youngest sports franchise owner in the country. That was four years ago when she was a student at Cairo-Durham High School. Now, Esslie has two teams under the Crusaders’ umbrella. The League One team plays at the highest level of UWS competition and the League Two team has won back to back championships.

NWS: Tornado touched down in Broadalbin
The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down Wednesday in Fulton County. The EF0 touched down in Broadalbin at 4:41 p.m. in the backyard of Cerrero’s Cuts on Route 29. It traveled across the road and impacted a residence on the north side of the highway. It knocked down a few tree limbs and uprooted two limbs, according to NWS.
Potentially Deadly Veggies Sold In New York Stores
A voluntary recall has been expanded due to the potential health threat it poses in New York State. Wiers Farm Inc. of Willard, Ohio, is expanding its July 12, 2024, recall. The recall was initiated by findings reported by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The vegetables at the center of the recall may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Another Tornado Touched Down In New York State
The month of July has been a record month for tornados in New York State and another one was confirmed to have touched down earlier this week. The National Weather Service in Buffalo confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down near Orwell, New York. This was the 20th tornado to be confirmed in New York State this month.
