Outdoor retailer REI Co-op sets opening in Crossgates

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Specialty outdoor retailer REI Co-op has set its opening date in Crossgates Mall. The store’s grand opening celebration is set to start on August 23.

The grand opening celebration from August 23 to 25 includes a special giveaway when the store opens at 10 a.m. each day, and customers can get free coffee and an exclusive camp mug when they donate to local non-profit. In the afternoons, there will be an outdoor social from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with local non-profits, giveaways, music, and more.

Those who apply for a REI Co-op Mastercard during grand opening weekend will get a $30 REI gift card. You’ll then get a $100 REI gift card after your first purchase outside of REI within 60 days of your account opening.

REI Co-op sells apparel, gear and accessories for camping, cycling, running, fitness, hiking, paddling, climbing, snow sports, and more. You can check out their products on the REI website .

In Crossgates, the 25,000-square-feet store will be on the upper level near H&M and ZARA and feature a full-service bike, ski, and snowboard shop, as well as online pick-up in-store and curbside pick-up. This will be REI Co-op’s sixth store in New York. Other New York locations include the newly-opened Ithaca store, Rochester, Carle Place, Huntington Station, and Manhattan.
