GUILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Various styles of Jewish music, food and art were showcased Sunday on the Guilford Green for the 18th annual Shoreline Jewish Festival.

“It’s very important that people are able to experience the flavors of Judaism, the rituals, the music, all the joy of it, in a public setting,” said Rabbi Yossi Yaffe, one of the organizers of the festivals. Yaffe, and his wife Rochel Baila, have been involved with the festival from the very beginning and they are proud of its legacy.

“After 18 years something that’s so beautiful is that we’ve seen people come back year after year as kids,” Rochel Baila Yaffe told News 8. “Now they’re coming back as grown-up volunteers and some of them are even coming back married with their kids.”

This year’s musical lineup includes Chassidic mystical soul trio Simply Tsfat, Jewish Soul-Jazz group The Redemptones and some country-bluegrass with a Jewish twist from Mr. Shabbos.

The event is put on every year by the Jewish Federation and the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven along with other local sponsors.
