Delta State FBLA chapter shines at National Leadership Conference in Orlando
CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State University chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference recently held in Orlando, Florida. DSU’s Fa’Darryl Cooper, Mississippi State FBLA Collegiate President, achieved a 10th place finish in Public Speaking. Additionally, Delta State students Arianna Chestnut, Amyia Triggs, Semira Brown, Sarama Brown, and LaTamara Oubre all advanced to the final round in their respective events.
Bay Springs’ Anderson Makes Long Run to Win Tough Phoenix Bass Fishing League Event at Lake Ferguson
GREENVILLE, Miss. (July 22, 2024) – Boater John Anderson of Bay Springs, Mississippi, caught a five-bass limit weighing 10 pounds even Saturday to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine on Lake Ferguson . The tournament was the fourth event of the season for the BFL Mississippi Division. Anderson earned $5,401, including the lucrative $2,500 Phoenix MLF Contingency Bonus, for his victory.

The Sun Belt Conference preseason coaches poll was released Monday and expectations are low for Southern Miss football after its 3-9 season. The poll was split into the Sun Belt's two divisions, with Southern Miss picked to finish in second-to-last place in the West with 31 points. Louisiana-Monroe was chosen for last place in the West with 16 points, while Georgia State, in the East Division, was the only other team with fewer points (19) than Southern Miss.
