Hilltop buys old Wells Fargo building on Main Street
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The downtown Wells Fargo building is easy to spot on the corner of Main and Fourth streets offering a prime spot for new life to downtown. Its relocation has left a void on Main Street. Hilltop Community Resources has announced its purchase of the building. It will not only serve as office space for Hilltop’s corporate and IT offices but will also accommodate most of the programs currently located at the main resource center off Colorado Avenue and 11th.

Dog rescued after spending two weeks in San Juan Mountains
A dog was rescued after spending two weeks alone in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton. According to an article from Fox 31 KDVR, the dog, Konnie, was traveling with its family from Arizona when she went missing on July 4. The family searched, but ultimately decided to return home. On Friday, Jimmy Keene, founder of San Juan Mountain Adventures, rescued the dog several miles from where she was last seen. Konnie's family is one their way to reunite with their pet. San Juan Mountain Adventures is a nonprofit organization that provides outdoor experiences to locals and visitors, according to Fox 31 KDVR. New road site construction underway on Village at Avon property
There’s a lot of earth being moved on the Village at Avon property, located between East Beaver Creek Boulevard and Interstate 70 exits 167 and 168. The plan for the area includes an influx of more residential units to complement the Piedmont apartment complex on the east end of the property, but before that can be realized, the property must include a new road on the north end of the valley floor.
Investigation underway after officer and suspect shot in Fort Collins
Authorities in Fort Collins say an investigation is underway after an officer and suspect were shot.According to a press release from the City of Fort Collins, officers responded to a rollover crash at Bryan Avenue and Mountain Avenue. The driver exited the vehicle with a firearm and exchanged gunfire with officers and ran toward Grand View Cemetery where more gunfire happened when officers followed the suspect. An armored rescue SWAT Unit vehicle arrived on the scene which help allow officers to safely approach the suspect who was injured and that's when officers rendered aid. The suspect was then taken into custody and taken to a hospital. The officers who was shot in the incident was also taken to a hospital where they are expected to recover. Additional information regarding the incident will come from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
Firefighters quickly extinguish fire started by lightning
Firefighters battled a fire started by a lightning strike in Chaffee County on Friday, according to the Chaffee County Fire Protection District. A storm blew through the Maysville area, and lightning struck a large Ponderosa Pine tree, causing it to catch fire. Chaffee County Fire was called out for a smoke investigation, but the burning tree was on U.S. Forest Service land. The Forest Service took command, and along with Chaffee County Fire, South Ark, and Salida Fire, hiked a mile and contained the fire within a few hours. Volunteers keep Northern Colorado laundry truck's mission rolling after crash
A mobile laundry service in Fort Collins and Loveland is back on the road five months after its truck was damaged in a crash. The mobile laundry service has been operated by Homeward Alliance volunteers for five years, providing free and accessible laundry to people with low income and families and people experiencing homelessness. Volunteers drive the laundry truck — outfitted with six washers and six dryers — to locations in Fort Collins and Loveland weekly so clients can have their laundry washed, dried and folded for free.

Superior resident receives new flag in honor of military husband
Nearly three years after the Marshall Fire destroyed her home, one woman was able to reclaim something she’d lost. On Friday, longtime Superior resident Gladys Forshee received a new burial flag for her late husband, U.S. Army veteran Larry Forshee. Her original flag was lost in the fire, which destroyed more than 1,000 Superior and Louisville homes on Dec. 30, 2021, and caused more than $2 billion in damage.
