American-Canadian Tour officials, in conjunction with White Mountain Motorsports Park, have added a special non-point event to the 2024 schedule with the Prelude to the Midsummer Classic 250 on Sunday, July 14 as part of a doubleheader midseason championships weekend at White Mountain. The 75-lap sprint on the North Woodstock highbanks offers a $2,000 winner’s share and all ACT Late Model drivers who take the green will be provisional eligible for a starting spot in the 7th annual Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250 on Saturday, August 3.

Missing in the North: Shanna Oman
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Shortly after midnight, Shanna Marie Oman left a residence just north of Fairbanks, in June of 2019 and there have been no traces of her since. Oman, from Eagle River, stopped by Fairbanks to see a friend. She visited a house on McGrath road before leaving around 12:30 a.m. on June 3, she then went to a cabin on Pleasant Valley Road, Mile 23 Chena Hot Springs Road. The owner of the cabin later said Oman “walked away” sometime on June 4.
Search for missing woman continues 29 years after disappearing from Forest Fair
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - July 1 marks 29 years since Stephanie Juarez last saw her sister, Erin Marie Gilbert. Gilbert was 24 at the time of her disappearance and last seen at the Girdwood Forest Fair while out on a date. Her date said she disappeared while he was looking for help after his vehicle wouldn’t start. Juarez said her family continues to search for answers nearly three decades later.
British Airways kills redemptions on AA and Alaska (again for the very first time)
Evidently, they’re still a little sore about the whole Independence Day thing on the other side of the pond. Overnight, British Airways seems to have completely destroyed its award chart for flights on AA and Alaska Airlines within the US, in some cases raising prices by almost 50%. BA already took a mallet to those awards in late-2023, so domestic US flights under 3,000 miles now cost between 50-100% more than they did last Summer.
