Non-Profit For Critically Ill Children Hosts Father’s Day Fundraiser In Panora
A Guthrie County-based non-profit group that helps cover medical expenses for families with critically ill children, Tori’s Angels, is hosting a fundraiser Sunday morning. MJ Brown, a Tori’s Angels board member, says the idea for the organization started in 2010 after the Panora United Methodist Church began collecting funds to assist a local family grappling with severe medical issues.
Driver Hurt in Guthrie County Crash
(Guthrie County) A Warren County man suffered injuries in a single-vehicle accident in Guthrie County. According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on Wednesday, June 12, at 4:55 p.m. on Highway 44 east of Dogwood Avenue. The arriving deputy located the driver, identified as 24-year-old Jonathan Robert Hogan Brandon, lying on his back in the ditch. Brandon told the deputy he lost control of the 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis while heading eastbound on Highway 44, attempting to pass a truck and trailer. The vehicle veered onto the north shoulder and went out of control. The car entered the ditch, continued eastbound, and struck a tree.
Many hands meant light work early in cleanup
Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper said at a Wednesday, June 5 board of supervisors meeting that an official answer for how the county can most efficiently be reimbursed for the work it has done to clean up from the May 21 is still in the works.
Guthrie County Board of Supervisors Provide Updates to Multiple Agreements
(Guthrie Center, IA) – The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday to discuss health updates alongside multiple agreements and courses of action in the county. Health Services Director Jotham Arber updated the board on their actions to help Greenfield while bringing in multiple resources to the community. He also discussed their agreement with Audubon County for the Home Health and Public Health Services. Guthrie County Auditor Dani Fink gave us an insight into what was discussed in this agreement.
Tori’s Angels Annual Breakfast this Weekend
The annual Tori’s Angels Benefit Fundraiser Breakfast is Sunday. Individuals are invited to come and attend the free-will donation meal and silent auction at the Panora Community Center from 8am to 1pm. The meal will include eggs, sausage, pancakes and various drinks. Since the organization’s first breakfast in 2010, they have helped more than 150 children with life-threatening health issues, and currently supports 115. Nine of the currently sponsored children reside in or have lived in Guthrie County.
