Reminder of Ordinances for Fireworks in Guthrie County
The Fourth of July may have passed, but some may still be celebrating with fireworks. Residents of the main towns in Guthrie County need to remember what their town’s ordinances are for fireworks. For Stuart, fireworks are allowed from June 1st to July 8th, and can only be lit on private property. Additionally, fireworks can only be shot off between the hours of 9am and 10pm, except for July 4th and the Saturdays and Sundays directly preceding and following the holiday, when they are allowed between 9am and 11pm for Stuart residents to remember. Guthrie Center and Panora both do not permit fireworks within city limits.
Last Day of Panora Sidewalk Sales and All School Reunion in Guthrie Center
Today is the final day for events in two Guthrie County towns. In Panora, the Sidewalk Sales finish today. Those interested in participating should check social media for local businesses to see when they will be open and set up on the sidewalks, as there are no set hours for the event on and around the square in Panora. In Guthrie Center it’s the final day for the main events of the All School Reunion, with many things to do in town. This afternoon, there will be a concert by Wyatt Sheeder at the Methodist Church beginning at 2pm.

Vehicle Damages Gas Pump in Guthrie Center
(Guthrie Co) A vehicle backed into a gas pump in Guthrie Center, causing approximately $50,000 in damage. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Kerry Stonehocker, of Linden, driving a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse, was backing up at the Sparky’s and thought she saw someone in her peripheral vision and accelerated in reverse into the pump to avoid a potential collision.
Patriotic painting with forks
Young artists gathered at Art on State on June 29 to create Fourth of July paintings using forks. A Painting with Pom Poms class will be held on July 10. Art on State is an art gallery created by the Guthrie County Arts Council as an opportunity to bring together the artists of the county, encouraging them in their talents by providing means to display and sell their work and to bring awareness of artistic endeavors to the community at large by presenting performing and visual arts programs.
