Acorn squash is an absolute comfort food when baked with butter and brown sugar. It's so GOOD!

Baked Acorn Squash with Butter and Brown Sugar

    Ingredients:

    • 1 medium acorn squash
    • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • Salt (optional)
    • Ground cinnamon (optional)

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F.
    2. Prepare the Squash:
      • Wash the acorn squash thoroughly.
      • Carefully cut the squash in half lengthwise from stem to tip. Use a sturdy knife and take your time to ensure safety.
      • Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp from the center of each half using a spoon.
    3. Prepare the Baking Dish:
      • Place the squash halves cut side up in a baking dish. If the halves are wobbly, you can trim a small slice off the bottom to make them sit flat.
    4. Rub with Butter:
      • Take the softened butter and rub it all over the cut side and inner cavity of each squash half.
    5. Sprinkle with Brown Sugar:
      • Evenly sprinkle 1 tablespoon of brown sugar over inner cavity of each squash half.
      • If desired, sprinkle a pinch of salt and a dash of ground cinnamon over the butter and sugar for added flavor.
    6. Bake the Squash:
      • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to keep the squash moist.
      • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes, or until the squash is tender when pierced with a fork.
    7. Serve:
      • Remove the squash from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
      • Enjoy the warm, sweet, and buttery flavors of the baked acorn squash.
