My husband and I recently experimented in the kitchen (as we often do) and created Chewy Cinnamon-Apple Raisin Oat Squares. Combining rolled oats, raisins, a fresh green apple, and cinnamon, with an egg for added richness, we were pleasantly surprised by the deliciously chewy and flavorful result. These bars have quickly become a favorite in our household, and we look forward to making them often and trying new ingredient combinations.

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease or line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
    2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and cinnamon. Stir well to ensure everything is well mixed.
    3. Prepare the Apple: Peel, core, and dice the apple into small pieces. Add the diced apple and raisins to the dry mixture, stirring to distribute evenly.
    4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, lightly beat the egg. Add the egg and vegetable oil to the dry mixture and stir until well combined and the ingredients are evenly moistened.
    5. Press into Pan: Press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan.
    6. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bars are golden brown around the edges and set in the center.
    7. Cool and Cut: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
