Units respond to Wreck with Injuries on Ga. 365 in Baldwin
Units from Habersham County Emergency Services responded with the Baldwin Fire Department and the Baldwin Police Department to a reported wreck with injuries Tuesday afternoon, July 16, on Ga. 365 at Charlie Davis Road. Numerous 9-1-1 callers beginning at 3:54pm reported there were possibly multiple injuries in the wreck on the southbound side of Ga. 365. Habersham County Emergency Services Med 12, Med 21, Med 1, Battalion 1, Captain 1, and PIO responded. Once units got on the scene, Med 21 was cancelled. Med 12 transported one person to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for treatment. Two other injured people refused transport and traveled by private vehicle to seek care. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating. The road was cleared by 5pm.
Wreck south of Tallulah Falls injures Three People
Units from Habersham County Emergency Services and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at 6:16pm on Friday, July 12, to a wreck with injuries on Expressway 441/Ga. 15 at 441 Old Historic Highway. Engine 17, Engine 9, Med 9, Med 16, Captain 1, and PIO responded, along with several units from the sheriff’s office. That location is just south of Tallulah Falls. Three people were transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for treatment. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating. Southbound traffic on Expressway 441/Ga. 15 was diverted onto 441 Old Historic Highway until about 7:30pm.

Units respond to Overturned Vehicle on Ga. 105
Units from Habersham County Emergency Services, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, and the Demorest Fire Department responded at 7:12pm Friday, July 12, to an overturned pickup truck on Ga. 105 at Smith Loop Road outside Demorest. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating. The wreck resulted in the temporary closure of the intersection while the vehicle was removed by towing operators.

Melisa Amber Petkas, age 29, of Habersham County, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Born on April 26, 1995, in Stockbridge, Georgia, she was the daughter of Melissa J. Petkas. Melisa had a beautiful, sensitive heart that fought for what she loved. The joy and loves of her life were her children.
