Week 5 Hackensack Fishing Contest

It turns out you don’t need 177 contestants to put the dock under water, 109 contestants were sufficient to do it this week. And the fish were really biting with an average of four fish per contestant.

As per usual, 50 percent of those fish were caught by a handful of youth — they must have a secret to their skill.

The sun was out, and it was a pleasantly hot day. Everyone had a lot of fun, fishing, yelling and encouraging their racing minnow, casting into the targets, face paintings, eating hot dogs, etc. It was just a beautiful day to be outdoors.

The hot dog sponsor this week was Hackensack Chamber of Commerce (http://www.hackensackchamber.com/). Thank you for handling so many hot dogs this week.

The dates for this year are every Tuesday through Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Be early to register before it starts. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it.
