Cal Poly Alumni Makes Debut For Minnesota Twin in MLB 7.05.2024
Cal Poly alumni, and San Luis Obispo native, Brooke Thomas Lee, has been called up to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon during their game against the Detroit Tigers. Lee is now the 24th Cal Poly baseball player to make it to the majors, and the 15th under his father, Cal Poly baseball head coach Larry Lee.

While the Minnesota Twins are currently in the midst of another youth movement, not everything is going smoothly. Brooks Lee was called up earlier this week to make his MLB debut, and so far it seems like he’s here to stay. Much like Edouard Julien last season, Lee arrived at the Twins due to an injury but is using the opportunity to earn his keep for the long haul.

New north Minneapolis trail construction set to begin next week
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Construction is set to begin next week on a mixed-use riverfront trail in north Minneapolis that will extend a popular regional trail. The new riverfront trail segment will connect Ole Olson Park and the 26th Avenue North Overlook, creating a new 1,000-foot trail in the process that officials hope will add "new riverside experiences" to the area for pedestrians and cyclists. The trail also connects the 26th Avenue North Overlook to the downtown riverfront and the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway – a 51-mile continuous bike/walk trail that circles most of Minneapolis.

27-year-old man dies after falling from a tree on the Fourth of July
AITKIN, Minn. — A 27-year-old man died after falling from a tree near the shores of Gun Lake in Aitkin on the Fourth of July. According to police Henry M. Cannon was climbing a large white pine tree while celebrating the holiday with friends when a branch broke and he fell approximately 25 feet to the ground. The fall knocked Cannon unconscious and resulted in multiple internal injuries, said authorities. Cannon was transported to Riverwood Hospital and administered lifesaving care. Cannon succumbed to his injuries. Police are still investigating the incident.

She had a love for cooking traditional Korean dishes and realized there wasn’t many places like that here in the Northland. Sunhee says her dishes are similar to home-cooked meals that she had with her family. That includes bulgogi, which is a thinly sliced marinated beef, along with rice cakes.

Bode Hutchinson from Grand Rapids Grapplers competed in USA Wrestling’s Kids’ National Wrestling Tournament June 27-30, at ImOn Arena in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Hutchinson was crowned champion when he took first place in Greco-Roman style wrestling competing in the 10U, 84-pound bracket and also took fourth place in the Freestyle Wrestling event. Hutchinson was impressive wrestling against the top wrestlers in the country. The Kids’ Nationals hosts the nation's top wrestlers from ages 7 to 14 in the international styles of freestyle and Greco-Roman, according to their website.
