Lee — A May 7 draft report reflected cleanup options for the mixed-use Eagle Mill project in Lee to be located at a former industrial site on West Center Street. The report is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) pursuant to its loan to the town for the mitigation in conjunction with the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC). The report is being reviewed by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (Mass DEP) as part of the project’s environmental assessment.

Labor Coalition Led by Massachusetts, Illinois, and Seattle Urges DHS to Extend Protection for Noncitizen Workers Amid Investigations
To protect noncitizen workers during investigations into labor violations, new measures are being introduced to strengthen their rights, the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, joined by the offices from Illinois and the Seattle Office of Labor Standards, has formed a coalition with 27 other labor enforcement agencies to petition the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Their request is to extend the Deferred Action Program period for these workers from two years to a minimum of four years, according to a press release from the Massachusetts AG's office.

Massachusetts police warn of scheme being used to steal packages being delivered to homes
Porch pirates are nothing new in Massachusetts, however, their tactics have changed to become a little more sophisticated. The Westminster Police Department recently took reports of thefts of delivered packages from FedEx and Amazon. These reports are very similar with a typically high-valued package being delivered and within minutes of the delivery, a suspect is seen approaching the house carrying a box or a bag and will either take the package or trade an empty box for an item that was delivered.
