Driver dies in crash that closed highway near RI, Mass. border
A Massachusetts man died in a three-vehicle crash that closed the westbound side of Interstate 195 near the Rhode Island border for several hours Tuesday afternoon, according to the Massachusetts State Police. The crash happened at about 1:20 p.m. near Exit 1 in Seekonk. The police closed all three lanes to rescue and treat occupants of the vehicles, the state police said. Man pleaded not guilty after allegedly crashing vehicle into Deerfield residence
GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Turners Falls man, Jason Tyler, who allegedly crashed his vehicle into a house on River Road in Deerfield Saturday, pleaded not guilty to charges of Operating Under the Influence of alcohol, marked lane violations, among others in Greenfield District Court Monday. The accident resulted in both the vehicle and residence catching fire, leaving the home uninhabitable.

New compost program coming to Riverside
GILL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Gill residents will soon have access to a new weekly compost collection site near the Riverside Municipal Building as the current food waste pickup program is ending in August after minimal participation. Residents can drop off compost at the collection site, which will be brought to Martin’s Farm in Greenfield, who also accepts compost from several transfer stations in the county.
