Two from Pittsfield arrested with narcotics during traffic stop in Taghkanic
WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. (WRGB) — Two individuals from Pittsfield were arrested for possession of a large quantity of narcotics in Taghkanic on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. On July 2, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a 2017 Ford Escape was stopped on the Taconic State Parkway for violations of the vehicle and traffic law, according to the New York State Police.

Wellesley's Michael Li made three a magic number at the 2024 New England Junior Tennis Championships. He won the boys 14 & under division title as the No. 3 seed Tuesday at Amherst College, beating No. 1 seed Joshua Chen of Lexington in the final. Li was a finalist in 2022 in the boys 12 and under tournament. His victory earned him an automatic spot in the Level 2 Northeast Team Cup at the end of July. Every age group champion will be honored at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, Rhode Island, in July.

One of the NASA astronauts who’s been orbiting space for weeks due to several malfunctions on her spaceship is a Massachusetts native. Although Sunita L. Williams was born in Ohio, Williams considers Needham her hometown and graduated from the town’s high school in 1983, according to her NASA biography. In 2019, Needham renamed an elementary school after Williams to honor her aerospace career, MassLive previously reported.
