The Hagerstown Flying Boxcars enjoyed a historic week at Meritus Park, winning back-to-back series for the first time in their inaugural season in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Records also were set at the plate and in the stands.

A look back at last week

On Tuesday, the Boxcars hit five home runs, including two by Welington Dotel, to set a single-game team record as they defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 10-3 in their series opener to snap a seven-game losing streak.

Hagerstown went on to win the three-game series, 2-1, and then took two of three from the Staten Island FerryHawks over the weekend.

The attendance for Friday night's game against Staten Island was 4,257 -- a record for Meritus Park.

Andrew Moritz stayed hot at the plate for the Boxcars, going 10-for-21 with six walks for the week to raise his batting average to .432 and his on-base percentage to .537.

Ozzie Abreu hit two homers on the week and now shares the team lead with Cito Culver at seven. Culver continues to lead Hagerstown in RBIs with 28.

The Boxcars' winning pitchers last week were Rodolfo Sanchez (1-0), Marvin Gorgas (2-5), Malik Binns (3-5) and Mike Kickham (4-4).
