MAUGANSVILLE -- The newest Little League in Washington County won the 2024 Maryland District 1 10-12 Baseball championship on Tuesday.

Trey Keatts had two hits and two RBIs, and Maddex Murray and Jaxon Shanholtz also had two hits as Hub City scored seven runs in the third inning and five in the fifth to defeat Halfway National 15-11 and win the title with a 3-0 record.

Hub City, in its first year following the merger of the Maugansville, West End and American leagues, will play in the Maryland state tournament beginning July 20 at the Southern Maryland Youth Organization complex in Pomfret.

Dylan Gammill scored three runs and Styles Eyler, Mason Mathis and Hunter Small each finished with two RBIs for Hub City.

Halfway National scored five runs to take a 6-2 lead in the top of the third inning, but it was short-lived.

Hub City answered with seven runs in the bottom half, the biggest blow coming on Eyler's two-run double. Murray and Keatts added RBI singles. Two runs scored on bases-loaded walks, another on a wild pitch.
