The Hagerstown Flying Boxcars endured another rough week in the Atlantic League, losing two of three on the road against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and then getting swept at home by the High Point Rockers.

Hagerstown fell to 2-6 in the second-half season standings and 22-49 overall.

A look back at last week

The Boxcars' win-loss record didn't seem to affect the home crowd as Meritus Park had a total weekend attendance of 8,916, including 3,734 on Saturday for "Salute to Swifties Night."

Probably no one enjoyed the weekend more than High Point third baseman Connor Owings, who went 8-for-15 at the plate with three homers, four doubles and seven RBIs in his first series at Meritus Park.

For Hagerstown, Dariel Gomez had a big week, going 10-for-21 with three doubles and a homer as he raised his batting average from .247 to .298.

Welington Dotel also stayed hot at the plate for the Boxcars, extending his hitting streak to nine straight games. He's gone 16-for-39 (.410) during that span.

A look ahead to this week

After a day off Monday, the Boxcars will host the Lancaster Stormers for a three-game series Tuesday through Thursday at Meritus Park, with each game beginning at 6:30 p.m.

At 6-2, the Stormers are in first place in the Atlantic League North Division second-half standings, four games ahead of the Boxcars, who are tied for last with the Staten Island FerryHawks.

The Boxcars will hit the road for a three-game weekend series at the Long Island Ducks, followed by three games at Southern Maryland, before returning home July 26.
