NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A mental competency hearing is set for John Pittman, the man accused of cutting his mother’s arm with a chainsaw. NOPD documents detail Monday’s domestic violence investigation. Police say Pittman and his mother got into a verbal altercation before Pittman grabbed a chainsaw, chased his mother into the street, and cut her arm. The NOPD said the victim was able to escape to her car and drive herself to a relative’s house over three miles away.
