Police ID man who confessed to running over 80-year-old with ATV
HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI – Police have named the suspect who reportedly committed suicide after confessing to running over an 80-year-old man with an ATV this weekend. The suspect was identified as Joshua Kemppainen, 22, of Quincy Township in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Hancock Police Chief Tami Sleeman said in a Thursday, July 25 update on the police department’s Facebook page.

Visitors Advised to Use Caution After Signs of Microcystin Are Reported at Local Lakes
Montgomery Parks urges patrons to use caution when recreating on or near Lake Needwood and Lake Frank located within Rock Creek Regional Park due to potential risks associated with high levels of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). Water samples from both lakes are currently being evaluated by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) to determine if levels are harmful. Visual indicators including discolored water and algal mats have been observed in portions of both lakes. Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) can produce dangerous levels of toxic microcystin.

We are wrapping up the work week on a fabulous note! We'll have a mix of sun and clouds, a northerly breeze, and highs in the middle to upper 80s.We'll continue with the lovely weather right on through the weekend. Go ahead and make outdoor plans! Both days feature solid sunshine and highs near 90°. Humidity levels over the weekend will stay nice and low. Monday will be a transition day with increasing humidity and the chance for a few showers later in the day, mainly well west of Baltimore. Highs on Monday climb into the lower 90s.Tuesday through Thursday will be tropical in terms of humidity with some drenching afternoon and evening thunderstorms in some places. These will be of the hit or miss variety. Highs will be in the lower 90s, however, it will feel hotter with the high humidity.
