NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police identify the Hamden man killed in a crash on I-91 Monday afternoon.

Troopers responded to the scene of the crash on I-91 Southbound near Exit 2 around 12:45 p.m. Monday.

It's unknown why the 2002 Toyota Camry that Segundo Guaman, 59, of Hamden, was driving lost control on the highway.

Investigators say the Toyota veered from the far left lane across all four lanes of the highway into the gore area of the right side of the highway.

Troopers say the vehicle continued to head south, at which time it hit the Exit 2 off-ramp sign support and struck the impact attenuator, before traveling further south, hitting a light pole and highway gantry post.

Guaman was unresponsive at the scene and was later pronounced dead at Yale New Haven Hospital.

If you witnessed the crash or have footage of the incident, you're being asked to contact Trooper Michael Trudeau at State Police - Troop G in Bridgeport.
