Senator Sean Ryan Announces Rollout Of Upstate Rental Improvement Program
BUFFALO – Today, July 26, 2024, New York State Senator Sean Ryan announced that a program he proposed in January to create safe and affordable rental units by rehabilitating dormant units is now rolling out across Upstate New York. Shortly after unveiling the plan, Senator Ryan successfully pushed to get $40 million included in the state budget to establish the statewide pilot program for communities outside of New York City.

ROME — Rome Mayor Jeffrey M. Lanigan and Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced new updates in Rome’s tornado recovery efforts at City Hall on Friday. They said the clean-up will take several weeks, and all city streets have been reopened except for the blocks in front of the damaged churches. They said they have given out $140,000 to more than 30 businesses from the Rome Emergency Business Fund, and just short of $750,000 from the Rome Victims Recovery Fund to roughly 279 residents so far. “We have a great community that has truly stepped up,” said Lanigan. “We’re going to keep moving forward, and I promise you we’re not slowing down.”
