Designer Puts Dream Home Up on Zillow & the Internet Is Mourning With Her

Designer, Kate Gabrielle , has spent the last two years falling in love with her quaint home over and over again — and so has much of the internet. With Barbie pink decor, vintage film-inspired wall art, pastel steps and more — the Jersey residence epitomizes dopamine decor in a way that's inspired so many. It's her dream home and yet, in a stunning move that broke hearts all over the internet — she's abruptly put the home up for sale. The new listing — unsurprisingly filled with gorgeous, colorful photos — sent people into shock, confusion, and sadness. And Kate Gabrielle is feeling it more than anyone.

Although the $500,000 Zillow listing is available to the public, many discovered the designer put her home up for sale via a thread on X account, Zillow Gone Wild.

"Wouldn't change a thing in this Hamilton, NJ home, would you?" the account wrote in a now-pinned post.

Some people instantly recognized the residence. "OMG?!? THIS IS @kategabrielle 's HOUSE!!!" one wrote .

"Okay, THANK YOU FOR [SAYING] THAT because i was convinced this was her house but i had no way to prove it," someone else responded.

To date, the X thread has acquired 12 million views, 11,000 saves, and nearly 9,000 reposts.

"This breaks my heart," one user, Kayla , wrote who doesn't follow Kate and wasn't familiar with the home before the post.

"This is very obviously someone’s dream home put together with deliberate care from top to bottom at every level. I wonder what happened that made them have to sell. This is the kind of house they should get to live in until the very end of their life."

"Zooming in immediately made me tear up," Kayla continued.

Another repost is a bittersweet note from Kate Gabrielle herself.

"Home sweet home," she wrote simply.

Despite the heart emoji, the designer followed up with several notes hinting at circumstances behind her For Sale sign — confirming the sad feelings the bright listing evoked on X.

"I’m so sad you can’t keep it just because all the love and attention you put into this is so clear," one supporter wrote to Kate beneath her brief announcement. "It’s a perfect vintage Barbie home and I adore it."

"Thank you! I wish I could keep it too," Kate replied with a broken heart emoji.

The designer also announced a break from the X platform following the viral listing and departed with a doleful note:

"This was my dream home and I designed it for *me* and nobody else," she followed up.

"I never expected to have to sell it, and it's breaking my heart. Just be kind, you never know what's going on in someone else's life."

Per Zillow, Kate purchased the house in 2022 for $340,000. Check out a bit of the home transformation below.

Since then, she's put a lot of work into it which likely drives up her overall investment in the property. She seemingly stands to make more than what she put in given the $500,00 price tag. Still, we know potential profits don't compare to the memories she's had there (like her first snow day and creating her dream living room) and the ones she hoped to continue making.

We're sending positive, Barbie pink vibes to Kate as she moves on from the property that inspired the World Wide Web. Home truly is where the heart is and we know her next place will be yet another extension of her energy and creativity.
