ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A popular winery in the Finger Lakes region has been named the Winery of the Year at the 38th Annual New York Wine Classic.

Weis Vineyards, located in Hammondsport, was honored with the award for Winery of the Year and the Governor’s Cup for its 2018 Reisling Ice Wine.

The New York Wine Classic is a nationally recognized competition that celebrates world-class wines made by producers in New York. It is organized by the New York Wine & Grape Foundation and has a trained panel of beverage directors, bartenders, educators, and more.

Three other wineries in the Finger Lakes region won awards — Damiani Wine Cellars won Best Sparking for its 2017 Brut Méthode Champenoise, Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery won Best White Whine for its Reserve Reisling 2022, and Fulkerson won Best Pink Whine for its Syrah Rosé
