HAMMONDSPORT, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Cyclists raised thousands of dollars to help people in need from Chemung and Steuben counties by riding their bikes around Keuka Lake on Saturday.

The United Way of the Southern Tier announced that its annual Tour de Keuka charity bike ride raised $100,000 for the organization’s programs. More than 250 cyclists from more than a dozen states and 100 volunteers participated in the 2024 Tour de Keuka.

Over $171K awarded to Southern Tier programs supporting senior citizens

“United Way of the Southern Tier is grateful to all the riders, sponsors, and helpers who make this event a success,” said United Way President and CEO Stephen Hughes. “The proceeds from the ride will make life better for children, senior citizens, and people in need in Chemung and Steuben counties.”

Cyclists could choose to ride 45, 60, or 100 miles around Keuka Lake on Aug. 3. Participants started their rides at the Hammondsport Fire Station at 7 a.m. or 9 a.m. (depending on the length of their rides) and will return by about 4 p.m.

The United Way of the Southern Tier will announce the date of next year’s Tour de Keuka soon.
